ChatGPT, the AI-powered chatbot has taken the internet by storm. Everyone is talking about how you can use the chatbot tool to enhance your day to day.
You have most likely heard about ChatGPT, especially if you are on LinkedIn. Alex Velinov, Chief Technology Officer at Tag Digital, cuts through the noise and shares how you can use the AI tool as an event professional.
For those who haven’t – where have you been?! OpenAI developed ChatGPT and is a variant of the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) language model. It is trained on a large dataset of text and learns to generate human-like responses to a given prompt.
We will be sharing how you can use ChatGPT to assist your day-to-day as an event professional. Whether you are an event planner, manager, or marketer, you can use ChatGPT to streamline your workflow and enhance the event experience for attendees.
It is important to use ChatGPT to your advantage, to enhance your daily productivity. It is a great tool for generating ideas and research, however, remember that it is not always completely accurate.
ChatGPT is an excellent tool for extracting information from text, generating ideas and writing code. However, there are always challenges with any new technology. ChatGPT is not recommended for maths, it cannot guarantee accurate information, nor can it access information dated after 2021. One of the downfalls to ChatGPT is that it can hallucinate in the responses it creates.
What do we mean by ChatGPT hallucinating? This is a technical term referring to the phenomenon of a chatbot creating realistic experiences that do not relate to the real world (Cureus). For example, ChatGPT can hallucinate and it may read as factual information, this is the dangerous side to the AI tool as users may take it as fact.
You may still be wary about how useful ChatGPT is to event professionals. There are a lot of different ways that you can safely use the AI tool in your day-to-day.
How exactly can you use ChatGPT as an event professional?
Here are 10 key uses that you can put into practice:
1. Market Research
Conduct comprehensive market research for a specific topic within your niche. An example of the results from ChatGPT could be a market overview, target audience definition, and competitor analysis.
2. Generate Ideas for Event Names
Ask ChatGPT to act as an event planner, requesting x amount of ideas and straplines. If the results aren’t exactly what you are looking for, combine names and straplines and ask for more variations.
3. Planning Event Dates
ChatGPT can act as an event planner to research what is the best time of year to run a specific event, for example, a drone industry B2B exhibition in Las Vegas. Again, it is important to double check this data and make sure it all makes sense.
4. Sponsorship Deck
For a prompt of this nature, it is important to give as much detail as possible, including what aspects you want the deck to emphasise and the desired tone of voice. We would recommend that you ask follow up questions for more information.
Tip: You can input your current templates and ask ChatGPT to create a variation or update, for example, email templates.
5. Media Plan Ideas
Ask ChatGPT to act as a digital marketing media planner to create a new media plan. In this instance, you could input an existing media plan and ask ChatGPT to add more channels like TikTok or Meta. Double check all of the data.
6. SEO Content Marketing Strategy
ChatGPT can generate keyword clusters if you supply the main keyword within your prompt, add ideas for a blogpost title for each keyword.
7. Blog Posts
Ask ChatGPT to act as a content writer, provide the topic and required word count, tone of voice and overview of desired content. You can adjust your prompt based on what you want to include in the blogpost and use a similar structure to write long form copy.
8. Social Media Schedule
Create a posting schedule for a period of time. Specify the platforms, topic and whether you would like to know suggested times, hashtags and how you would like the data presented.
9. Video Scripts
Ask for a detailed video script, state the industry and topic, input the event name, dates, location and strapline. It is best to give more information to limit the number of edits required and follow up questions. Create a prompt with placeholder text so that you can use it as a template.
10. Post Show Feedback
ChatGPT can create your feedback form to send out after your event. This automates a repetitive task if you use placeholder text to use as a template for post show feedback.
These are not all of the potential uses for event professionals. ChatGPT can also generate ad copy, speaker bios, summarise feedback, landing page content and copy, create webinar summaries, promotional emails (for a specific audience) or event speaker questions.
We would recommend that you use ChatGPT to generate ideas, refresh templates for repetitive tasks, and conduct research to streamline your workflow.
To get the most out of ChatGPT, you have to input detailed prompts and be specific with what information you would like. If you are struggling with how to format your prompts, download our template document for 10 different uses.
