Tag Digital Academy – Kitty & Erin Spotlight

Tag Digital Academy – Kitty & Erin Spotlight

The Tag Digital Academy launched in 2022, welcoming our first cohort of apprentices, Kitty and Erin.

The Tag Digital Academy offers a unique and immersive learning experience for those who want to explore the world of digital marketing through a modern apprenticeship.

Through our apprentice programme, we combine technical skills training with marketing principles. This prepares the apprentices to take on the technical aspects of digital projects whilst understanding the marketing theory.

We offer a full digital training system that will take on young talent with limited experience and train them to become paid media professionals.

The Tag Digital Academy is structured to allow our apprentices to get to know every part of the business and the work of each team. Kitty and Erin have spent time in the Google, Paid Social, and Growth teams to get a clear understanding of the company dynamic and a feel for each role.

Let’s dive into how Erin and Kitty have found the last few months as they reflect, share what they have learnt and what they are looking forward to.

What attracted you to starting a career in marketing?

Before starting my apprenticeship, I was struggling to find a job I was passionate about.

I have always thrived in a creative and fast-paced environment and knew I needed to develop my skills in a position that reflected that.

I decided to look for an apprenticeship in digital marketing to become qualified in a role that is both valuable in a digital world and interesting to me.

Is there anything that has surprised you?

I was surprised by how the platforms are constantly changing and the learning never ends. There will always be something new to teach yourself and grow your strengths, which is such an exciting and refreshing way of working.

What is the best thing you have learned so far?

I can’t put my finger on the single best thing I have learned because I feel like my knowledge has shifted and expanded completely since working at Tag Digital. I came into the role as a blank slate, struggling to keep up with the language and technical side of things, but with the support of the team, I am now able to build campaigns across Meta and LinkedIn.

What are you looking forward to as you progress in the Tag Digital Academy?

I am looking forward to continuing to see my confidence and ability grow. I have already noticed such a difference in my attitude and skill set within the role. Working at Tag Digital has taught me so much in such a short amount of time and knowing that I’m only scratching the surface makes me excited for what’s next!

How long have you been at Tag Digital?

4 months, it feels like both 4 years and 4 weeks.

What attracted you to starting a career in marketing?

I was debating between working full time and university, but considering the toll the pandemic had on me, I thought that an apprenticeship was what would best suit me.

I had no clue about digital marketing but had recently just finished studying media and communications at college, and thought that it would be something I was interested in.

Is there anything that has surprised you?

A lot has surprised me but mostly how welcoming and patient everyone has been considering I’ve come in relatively clueless. I also didn’t realise how technical the roles were, which proved to be a bit of a challenge for me.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned so far?

I found it most interesting that everyone works in a team or squad which I think is a huge help for each person individually. It would be easy to have everyone sit separately in front of computers getting on with their work without much interaction, but the team is encouraged to share ideas and socialise. I think this benefits everyone a lot!

What are you looking forward to as you progress?

I’m really looking forward to being a part of a team and being an asset to them. I also want to keep developing my skills and becoming confident in my role.

What has your experience been like working across the Social, Google and Growth Team?

My experience working across the teams has been really positive. Everyone has been very supportive and easy to work with, which has definitely put me at ease in a new role.

I’ve now got a better understanding of digital marketing thanks to everyone’s help, and while I’m still not 100% confident, I feel a lot more self assured in my capabilities.

What do you enjoy most about working at Tag Digital?

I really enjoy working at Tag Digital because it’s been my first experience working full time in an office environment, but it doesn’t feel like a regular Monday-Friday or 9-5.

It’s a genuinely warm environment that doesn’t put too much pressure or weight on your shoulders, everyone and everything is super helpful and available for whatever you need.

We are excited to announce that our second cohort of apprentices will be joining the Tag Academy in March! We’re looking forward to welcoming new people to Tag Digital and the world of event marketing.
